Juicy Couture is a contemporary line of both casual and dressy apparel founded by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor back in 1994. Now owned by the “Liz Claibornefashion company”, Juicy is known for their terrycloth and velour tracksuits as well as other clothing and accessories.
The basic idea of the founders was to create a label equal to that of other major labels, but to be more affordable to the general public (although this is no longer the case, as most of their apparel is priced at more than $100 USD).
They didn’t had much money to start their business, and for advertise it, so they had the great idea of sending complete collections to celebrities (e.g. Madonna), who really liked the style and helped the brand to emerge on the broad market.
Around 2004, it boomed in popularity, and nowadays is well know in popularity, despite it lost most of his orginal appeal, becoming a merely commercial brand. They expanded their lines with men’s clothing and cosmetics.
In the first semester 2008 only they grossed more than 280 million USD.
